Why I Left The Fellowship

Updated: Sep 9

I was part of a lovely fellowship for over a year. I participated in the worship band and in study groups. I felt loved and a sense of belonging.

During my time at the fellowship some of the messages disturbed me because they seemed foreign, new and unfamiliar. I am not saying that I trust my own interpretation and understanding above all others. We are called to test teachings and to trust the discernment given to us by the Lord. Something just wasn’t right.

After looking into the various teachings I discovered that they all originated from what is known as NAR- The New Apostolic Reformation mixed with Prosperity Gospel and Progressive Christianity teachings.

Please refer to this post to understand what these teachings are.

I call you to draw close to the Lord and trust Him.

Don’t get stuck in a comfort zone.

Fellowship is not a country club, a social experience or a closed community.

We are in this world but not of this world. Let’s not isolate ourselves.

John 17:15-16 (NASB)

15 I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

We are called to get close to the Living God so that we can be used to call others to salvation.

He sends us out as sheep amongst wolves.

Matthew 10:16 (NASB)

16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.

We are to be the salt and light of the earth.

Matthew 5:13 (NASB)

13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.

Let’s get close to the Lord and understand what He wants from us.

You must be born again. If you are a part of a fellowship but cannot remember a time in your life when you died to yourself and to this world to be born again from above in newness of life, seek the Lord and ask Him to give you peace and confidence in your eternal salvation.

You must be born again.

John 3:3 (NASB)

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

2 Peter 1:10-11 (NASB)

10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.

Jeremiah 29:13-14 (NASB)

13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Yeshua is the only one who can save you from the wrath that is going to come upon the inhabitants of the earth.

Revelation 3:10 (NASB)

10 Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
